The United States Army Corps of Engineers is currently performing scheduled annual maintenance on the Freeport Harbor Channel utilizing the NEWPORT dredge in the vicinity between the Outer Bar and Brazosport Turning Basin.
Work began November 20, 2021 and is estimated for completion in March 2022, pending weather conditions.
Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
Dredging operations are continuous, 24/7.
Dredge monitors channel 13 and/or 16 on marine VHF radio, respective dredge should be contacted for coordination of passing and movement near operations.
